What Are Pomlums? - Board Game World Building for Lombard's Labyrinth

In the world of Crosantten, magic is found all around the world; it is a normal part of everyday life. While magic is natural, it can not be used or even felt by all, so naturally there are still many mysteries to be uncovered. One of the most peculiar mysteries is that of the race of creatures known as Pomlums. These little creatures are made up of various elemental and other natural components found around the world. It is not known where they come from or how many are out there. Pomlums don't speak, but they find a way to communicate nonetheless; they can often be found wandering the world.

Meet Flameo, a fire Pomlum, who likes to explore old dungeons, relighting every torch they find along the way. Flameo is well known among adventurers and is liked for this reason; they say that because of Flameo, you can avoid dangerous monsters or traps while exploring. Flameo is a fan favorite with many artists creating truly amazing artworks depicting Flameo.

Meet Klaus, the small, mischievous cloud Pomlum who likes to trick farmers by turning itself into odd-shaped clouds, sometimes dragons, or other times a wagon floating through the sky. While Klaus never succeeds in scaring the farmers, they do enjoy seeing Klaus float by on hot sunny days as Klaus brings a bit of shade to them as Klaus plays its tricks. On full moon nights, Klaus can be seen floating towards the moon with its lantern. Old Mern likes to say Klaus is trying to capture the moon's glow. He's not sure why Klaus does this or why he likes the moon so much.

The last Pomlum we know of is Will-O, a small spirit like Pomlum, who often illuminates a faint blue glow and is said to bring good fortune and luck to those around it. Will-O can be found exploring dark forests or caves and is said to find adventures in need of help. Like Flameo, Will-O is well-liked by other adventurers for its ability to bring good fortune to those around it.
